What is Hawaizaada?
Hawaizaada is a 2015 Indian Hindi drama film written, directed and produced by Vibhu Puri along with Reliance Entertainment. It is inspired by the biography of Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, an Indian scientist who is credited to have constructed India's first unmanned plane in 1895.
The plot of Hawaizaada
The film is set in Bombay in the era of British Raj. It follows the life of Shivkar Bapuji Talpade (played by Ayushmann Khurrana), a school drop-out who falls in love with a local stage dancer named Sitara (played by Pallavi Sharda). His father disowns him for his affair with Sitara and he meets a crazy scientist named Pandit Subbaraya Shastri (played by Mithun Chakraborty). Shastri is working on a secret project to build a flying machine based on ancient Indian aeronautics. He shares his knowledge with Talpade and offers him to be his assistant. Talpade accepts his offer and together they work on building an aeroplane. They face many challenges from the British authorities who want to stop their experiments. They also face personal problems as Sitara leaves Talpade for Hyderabad and Shastri dies of a heart attack. Talpade decides to fulfill Shastri's dream and builds a perfect flying machine with the help of Sitara and his nephew Narayan. He successfully conducts a manned flight in front of many eyewitnesses but crashes soon after.
